Dear members,
We are pleased to share with you the background documents of the World Council, which will be celebrated in Daejeon on 14 October 2022, from 15:00-18:00 (KST), in the framework of the UCLG World Congress.
This will be the first meeting of the newly appointed World Council for the 2022-2025 mandate. The Council will be appointed by the General Assembly on 13 October, from the lists of nominations submitted by the UCLG Sections.
The World Council will decide the general policies of the Organization for the next period, adopt the Pact for the Future and the work programme for 2023. It will elect the Presidency, the Treasurer and the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality. It will also appoint the members of the Executive Bureau among its own membership, following the electoral process taking place throughout the Sections.
The meeting will be preceded by a consultation on The Pact for the Future of Government: Governing local and global realities as one, from 13:30-15:00.
The two sessions sessions are organized in a hybrid format.

The Closing Session, “Celebrating a New Era: Local and regional governments ready for the future” is celebrated in-person only.

REGISTRATION
We remind you that it is necessary to confirm your participation both online and in-person to the statutory track by filling in the attendance form. Please note that this form is NOT the registration for the Congress. Its aim is to confirm participation in the statutory meetings and plenaries, so that the team at the World Secretariat can proceed with the adequate arrangements in terms of seating and voting for members of the governing bodies.
We remind you that registration for the whole Congress is available via the Congress registration page.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please note that for national security reasons, the hosts will need to close the online registration process on 3 October. Onsite registrations will then be available as from 9 October.
