Territorial Action on Human Mobility 
Expression of interest to participate in the UNHCR Global Refugee Forum
12 - 15 December 2023, Geneva

 

Dear members,

Last year in New York, Mayors and Local and Regional Governments marked a milestone at the first International Migration Review Forum. Building on this momentum this year, our World Organization has worked to ensure that local and regional governments have a seat at the 2nd UNHCR Global Refugee Forum (GRF), to be hosted in Geneva from 12-15  December 2023. The forum, which will discuss progress towards the implementation of the UN Global Compact on Refugees, will include the holding of the Local and Regional Governments Day, the first-ever to take place in the context of a UN international policy process in Geneva.
 
We invite elected officials from local and regional governments to express their interest to participate at the GRF. Please note that slots are very limited and priority will be given to mayoral/governor level nominations. If interested, please send us your nomination by Monday 18 September via email to migration@uclg.org.
 
 
Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees
Additionally, all cities interested in joining the GRF are highly encouraged to highlight their innovative work by submitting an action through the Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees (an initiative co-led by UCLG as part of the Mayors Mechanism partnership), thereby bringing concrete commitment to the GRF. If you are interested in ha-ving your city action included in the call to action 2023 report and website, kindly submit the enclosed form by 1 October 2023 via email to cta@mayorsmechanism.org.
