World Forum of Cities and Territories of Peace
27-28 June 2023, Bogotá

 

Dear members,

As you know, the World Forum of Cities and Territories of Peace will be held in Bogotá on 27-28 June, under the theme “Citizenship for a sustainable peace based on care”, and we encourage you to participate!
 
 
Background and programme
 
The Forum, hosted by the city of Bogotá, with UCLG acting as its permanent secretariat, will be the fourth edition of a world meeting that began in Madrid in 2017 with the aim of offering solutions at the political level and in the implementation of policies for the construction of coexistence and peace in the territories. The second edition was held in Madrid in 2018 and the third edition in Mexico City in 2021.
 
The fourth edition aims to consolidate the Forum as a stage for dialogue and exchange of knowledge and experiences on the prevention of violence and the construction of sustainable peace. The city of Bogota aims to contribute to the Forum with knowledge that nurtures dialogues and reflections leading to the prevention and participatory resolution of conflicts and the strengthening of peace processes that arise in cities and territories around the world.
 
The initial programme is already available and includes plenary sessions, labs and conversations in smaller groups. Although the programme is likely to suffer minor changes, we would like to call your attention on the following sessions, co-organized by UCLG:

• Opening Plenary, in the framework of the Municipal Peace Talks: City diplomacy and transformative diplomacy, Tuesday 27 June.
• Working session on violence against women at the local level (lab), 27 June

 
The Forum will be immediately followed by the Women Deliver Conference for Latin America, which will be held on 29-30 June.
 
 
Logistics of the Forum
 
Registration to the Forum will be open as from next week. All the details will be shared on the UCLG Website.
 
Accommodation:
The hotels suggested are located in the area surrounding the event venue. It is a quiet area and quite crowded due to its location. A list with suggested hotels can be found in the Logistical Note. 
 
Official local transportation:
The Committee Organizers will make transportation arrangements available for participants from the airport to the designated hotels and vice versa. Participants who are not staying at the officially designated hotels will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the airport.
 
Visa Requirements:
Please make sure to check whether you need a visa to travel to Colombia. Access the following link to consult the nationalities that do require a visa for short stays. You can check the visa requirements on the website of the Colombian Embassy or Consulate in your country.
