Dear members,

We are pleased to share with you the latest up-dates regarding our upcoming World Council in Konya. With over 300 registered participants, including over 90 local and regional leaders, the World Council will be an important gathering of our network that will allow “Envisioning the Future”.

Programme up-dates
 
We are pleased to share with you two main up-dates regarding the programme:

• A meeting on Territorial Prevention and Management of Crises, convened by the UCLG Working Group, will be organized on 26 October. Designed as a technical exchange, the meeting will provide an opportunity to take stock of the disasters that recently struck Türkiye and Morocco.

• The hosts in Konya are organizing a celebratory moment on 27 October, after the World Council, to be held at the Congress Center before the gala dinner. The President of the Republic of Türkiye is expected to be in attendance. 

Considering the above, we take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of registering in advance to the World Council. Please note that the registration process is open until tomorrow, 20 October. Make sure that you fill in the registration form for each member of your delegation.
 
Please note that the list of participants will be published once registration is closed, and will no longer be up-dated after this date.
 
 
Policy debates
 
As previously informed, the World Council will host five in-person policy debates in line with the renewed Policy Councils to be formally approved by the World Council. The concept notes have been uploaded on UCLGMeets, and you can consult them below:

• Right to the City: Reclaiming the Commons, 26 October, 9:30-11:00
• Opportunities for All: Redefining Finance and Economies of Equality, 26 October, 11:00-12:30
• Multilevel Governance: Regaining Trust, 27 October, 9:00-10:00
• Resilient and Regenerative Territories: Renaturing, 28 October, 9:30-11:00
• Local Multilateralism and City Diplomacy: Linking the Local to the Global, 28 October, 11:00-12:30

• Presidency report for 2023, to be presented during the World Council
• Work plans of UCLG Consultation Mechanisms for 2024, to be presented and approved during the World Council

 
 
Logistical reminder
 
As previously informed, our hosts in Konya will organize shuttles between the airport and the three hotels, as well as between the hotels and the meeting venue. The timetables are now available on UCLGMeets.
