Survey on SDG Localization
Local and regional governments’ report to the 2023 High-Level Political Forum
Dear members,
This is a reminder of our previous circular asking you to answer the Survey on the localization of the SDGs.
As in previous years, our next report on the role of local and regional governments in the localization of the SDGs will be presented to the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) of the United Nations in July 2023. We would like to know about the experiences on localizing the 2030 Agenda of as many local governments and associations as possible through our survey.

This year, the HLPF will address the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures that have been taken to accelerate the full implementation of the SDGs as well as assess the progress made towards SDG 11 - “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. Our report will particularly focus on highlighting local and regional governments’ contribution to achieving sustainable cities and territories (SDG 11), and its interlinkages with SDGs 6 (access to water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 17 (partnerships) and the other SDGs.
We need the support of local and regional governments and their national associations, from all the countries and particularly from the 40 countries that have committed to submit a Voluntary National Review to the 2023 HLPF. The complete list of countries by region is available below.
You can access this link to complete the survey online before 1 May. Through this link you will also find a downloadable file that you can use as a guide.
