Dear members,
We are pleased to share with you the latest up-dates for the Executive Bureau meetings, taking place in Seville on 13-15 June.
The #UCLGMeets week in a glimpse
Under the theme “Local and Regional Governments Fostering Peace at the front line of Emergencies”, the Executive Bureau will discuss the work programme until Daejeon, including the statutory issues related to the renewal of the governing bodies. It will further offer the opportunity to participants in-person to attend the Mediterranean Forum on Urban Migration.

Several thematic sessions will be held, hosted by the Policy Councils and Consultation Mechanisms, around priority areas for the constituency:
- UCLG Municipal Peace Talks: Local Governments roles and solidarity in times of international crisis (Monday 13 June)
- The New Urban Agenda Under Review (Monday 13 June)
- Renewing Democracy from the bottom up (Monday 13 June)
- Local Economic Development for an Equitable Recovery (Tuesday 14 June)
- 10, 100, 1000 Human Rights Cities and Territories by 2030 (Tuesday 14 June)
- Lampedusa Charter for Human Mobility: dignity and territorial solidarity at the center, accompanying peace processes (Wednesday 15 June)
The High-Level Policy Debate, which will serve as an umbrella of the formal session of the Bureau on 15 June, will integrate the above subjects and debate the essentials of the care society that the municipal movement is promoting, and will help shape the Pact for the Future aiming to guide the work of the World Organization in the coming years.
Finally, the Business Session of the Bureau will be articulated in three segments, during which all the items will be presented and the synergies between our policy strategies will be highlighted:
- Policy highlights and strategic priorities
- Institutional matters
- Building blocks of the World Congress in Daejeon
Please note that we will send you the background documents and open the page on UCLGMeets by 31st May. As is now usual, UCLGMeets will include an interactive day-by-day programme, as well as the concept notes and background documents.
Registration & General Participation
If you have not done so already, we invite you to confirm your attendance by filling in the registration form.
As you know, this is a hybrid Executive Bureau, with reduced in-person participation. We encourage the Presidency and members of the Committee on Statutory Affairs, as well as members of the Policy Councils, to attend in person. Other members interested in attending meetings in Seville should register as soon as possible to allow for proper arrangements.
As all the hybrid sessions will take place via Zoom, we highly recommend to ensure you have the most recent version of the app downloaded (tutorial here).
IMPORTANT UP-DATES FOR IN PERSON PARTICIPANTS:
- Venue: All the in-person and hybrid sessions will be held at Fibes – Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla (Address: Avenida Luis Uruñuela, 1 – 41020 Seville)
- Registration: By registering to the UCLG meetings via the above form, you will be automatically registered to the in-person sessions of the Mediterranean Forum on Urban Migration. Please note that for security matters, registrations received after 8 June may result in a waiting time when entering the Palacio de Congresos and obtaining your accreditation.
- Hotels: Please find a list of hotels recommended by our hosts in Seville.
- Transport: We are exploring options for transportation from the city centre to the meetings venue. More information will be shared on UCLGMeets.
