We are pleased to share the invitation from Catbalogan City and New Taipei City to attend and actively participate in a virtual forum entitled Catbalogan City and New Taipei City: Accelerating Gender Equality through Partnerships. Catbalogan City’s vision of GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT is “AN EMPOWERED, INCLUSIVE AND TRANSFORMATIVE COMMUNITY THROUGH EQUITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT BY 2040. The City aims to hit its vision through various programs and activities by recognizing the importance of linkages and partnerships with LGU’s, NGO’s, and other stakeholders.
Catbalogan City, as Co-Chair of the UCLG ASPAC Standing Committee on Women in Local Government and an active member of UCLG, the city adheres to its advocacy of integrating gender perspectives into different themes of local development. New Taipei City is also an active member of UCLG ASPAC and is known as a gender-responsive government with impactful programs. Both cities continually find ways and innovations to push for gender equality and the inclusion of women in various development processes. This innovation includes the engagement of men in the campaign against Violence Against Women and Children (VAW-C) through the MOVE (Men Opposed Violence against Women (and children) Everywhere) program of Catbalogan City and the all-gender friendly infrastructure (NeST) of New Taipei City.
Led by Catbalogan City in partnership with New Taipei City, UCLG ASPAC and its Standing Committee on Women in Local Government this activity aims to share and exchange knowledge from both city governments on how these 2 (two) significant endeavors and initiatives hit the SDG 5 and how both cities can actually adopt these programs and implement in their cities which later on can be shared to other member cities of UCLG as provided by the UCLG- ASPAC Standing Committee Women in Local Governments or SCWLG.
