Governors Association of the Republic of Korea,
Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City

We work together to address local issues, strengthen cooperation and communication between the central and local governments, and fulfill our responsibilities as a key pillar of national progress.
Today, the Republic of Korea faces various challenges, including low birth rates and regional imbalances.
To overcome these challenges and achieve sustainable development, two essential conditions must be met.
First, the central and local governments must work together in close cooperation, and second, regions must be empowered to grow autonomously.
Organic collaboration between central and local governments, combined with the autonomous growth of regions, will serve as the foundation for realizing genuine local autonomy and achieving balanced national development.
The Governors Association of the Republic of Korea is a collaborative platform that connects regions and represents the voice of the people across the entire country.
Believing that local policy capacity is national competitiveness, we are committed to enabling autonomous and sustainable regional development.
Through mutual cooperation among all levels of government, we will continue our efforts to advance balanced national development.
The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of local autonomy in the Republic of Korea.
As our local governments and civic awareness have already reached a mature level, now is the time to work with the central government to usher in a true Local Era.
The Governors Association of the Republic of Korea will do its utmost to promote balanced national development and decentralization.
We sincerely ask for your continued interest and active participation.
Thank you.
