GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION OF KOREA

The 17 metropolitan cities and provinces of the Republic of Korea have moved beyond the role of mere “local governments.”
With a strong sense of mission and pride as true “regional governments,” they are playing vital roles as foundational partners in the nation’s development.

Toward the goal of realizing a “Local Era where all citizens enjoy fair opportunities regardless of where they live,”
local government leaders, public officials, and residents are devoting their full energy and capabilities.

Under this vision, the Governors Association of the Republic of Korea will faithfully
carry out its role in supporting efforts by all 17 metropolitan cities and provinces
to work together, narrow regional development disparities,
lead balanced development tailored to the unique characteristics of each region,
and realize mature local autonomy and self-governance led by the regions themselves across the nation.

We will continue to do our utmost, together with the 17 metropolitan cities and provinces,
to open a true Local Era where every citizen, regardless of where they live in the Republic of Korea,
has the opportunity to thrive and grow.

Each individual’s small efforts will gradually change their city and province,
and those regional changes will ultimately become the driving force behind the advancement of the Republic of Korea.
